Megadeth kick off Download Festival 2007

Metal veterans Megadeth pulled in a huge crowd at Download Festival 2007 as they blasted through their back catalogue on the Main Stage.

The US four-piece played old favourites 'Symphony of Destruction' and 'Peace Sells But Who's Buying' alongside new track 'Gears Of War' during a mid-afternoon set at Donington Park.

They later closed their performance with a medley which saw the band perform a few bars of Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid'.

Over in the DimeBag Darrell Stage, Norwegian rockers Turbonegro showcased new song 'Do You Do You Dig Destruction' during their 30 minute set.

As the band launched into the track a sweat drenched half naked Hans Erik Husby, told the crowd: "This tends to happen a lot in the UK and Norway. A 14-year-old girl comes home late very drunk with a fetus in her stomach."

Earlier, LA five-piece Buckcherry peformed a short set which saw singer Josh Todd scream "Come on you fucking cunts", to the crowd as the band hit the stage.

The quintet also played a series of songs including 'Everything' from their recent album '15'.

I Was A Cub Scout then played a afternoon set, with singer Todd Marriott joking as they took the stage: "This is for whoever's on the mainstage and louder than we are."

The band's set included forthcoming single 'Our Smallest Adventures', while Marriott admitted that he had been to the festival before.

"When I was 13 I came and watched Korn and they're playing this weekend!" he declared

The singer added that he'd just seen Paramore's singer Hayley Williams.

Marriott said: "Everyone was ganging her... She's a very pretty girl," before launching into 'I Hate Nightclubs'.

Hotly tipped Britrockers Zico Chain also played, performing their desert rock to a large audience.

"Get ready to lose your fucking mind!" singer Chris Glithero said before launching into 'Rohyphnol'.

Glithero then told the band it was a very special performance of the track 'Anaemia'.

"We're making a video for this right now - so we want to see you go mental!" Glithereo explained.
